It's been 45 days

since I ditched grains and wheat. This is the longest I've ever been able to do so.

So how do I feel?

Pretty darn good.

My "english muffin for breakfast" habit has been kicked to the curb. I rarely think about them anymore. Before Wheat Belly, I didn't think I'd ever be able to get this monkey off my back. But I did it.

I'm not very not tempted when I pass the bakery section at Whole Foods. I was a regular buyer of all things carby and bread-like. Now I can pass by without a problem.

I wish I could say that weight is falling off me. Sadly, this isn't the case. I think it's due to the fact that I was still consuming sugar. Now that I'm on the sugar wagon, I'm hoping to have saggy pants in the near future.

I sleep through the night. I used to wake up around 3am.

I don't get the "I need a nap" signal around 3pm anymore.

My eyes aren't as puffy. My whole face is de-puffing, which makes me happy. It's no fun staring at a biscuit face in the mirror.

Next week I have an appointment with the primal doctor Dr Jeff Gerber. I'm hoping I see good results with my blood tests.

In summary, I'm a happy camper. I don't have any plans to go back to grains, not even for a weekly "cheat" meal.

I hope the next 45 days busts my sugar habit. I also want to begin adding some weekly intermittent fasting days.

Let's go..

Day 2

Another breakfast of eggs and fruit.

Later this morning, husband and I are going for a long hike. It's Memorial Day so we're both off of work.

After today, things get crazy. Tomorrow I'm flying to Los Angeles for work. From there I go to San Diego for the marathon on Sunday. Then I'm meeting husband in Las Vegas.

Yipes!

I'm anticipating lots of wheat & grain challenges but I know I can overcome them. I won't be able to update my blog until Friday, the hotel in LA charges for Wifi, I'm not paying for it!

I better start packing...

Day 1

I'm going to try and do a post everyday during my Summer Challenge. If possible, I'll include a photo from one of my meals.

Here's this morning's breakfast..

I need to clean my windows!
Couple hard boiled eggs with fruit salad. The stuff on top is coconut cream. It's easy to make and tastes fantastic! The cream is just the fat off the top of a can of coconut milk. I chill it in the fridge and then whip it with vanilla and cinnamon.

In a couple hours I'm doing a 4 mile run. Next weekend is the San Diego marathon. My job is to not get injured this week.

My 100 Days of Wheat-free Summer info

The timeline is May 27 until Labor Day.

No wheat and no grains. I don't want to eliminate sugar at the same time, my head may explode. I'll allow fruit and a small piece of dark chocolate during the week. On weekends I can have dessert, providing it doesn't have flour. I need to google "best flourless cakes and brownies".

I'll step on the scale every 10 days.

It's the 100 days of summer

wheat free challenge!

Beginning tomorrow and ending on Labor Day, I'm going wheat free, mostly grain free too.

Anybody out there in cyber land is welcome to join me in my quest to banish the wheat belly and bagel face.

Let the fun begin!
